Author Robert Chappell is a veteran of 29 years of law enforcement.  He started his career in 1985 as an officer with the Blacksburg Virginia Police Department. In 1987 Robert was hired by the Virginia State Police. He currently serves as a state police captain.

Robert is also a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve having served 25 years. He retired in 2008 as a lieutenant colonel. His military service includes a deployment to Iraq and awards include the Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge.
